Kaatchi Market
Kaatchi Market (at We Are 1976)
Kaatchi Market is a flexible community space tucked into the back of We Are 1976—part creative studio, part gathering room, part little world you can step into. It’s where ideas get a table and some breathing room: a place for making, learning, showing work, and meeting the people behind the things you love. Sometimes it’s quiet and studio-like, sometimes it’s buzzing with conversation, but it’s always built around the same feeling—come as you are, stay a while, and see what’s being made.
The name Kaatchi comes from the Korean word 같이, meaning “together.” That’s the point of the space: a warm, adaptable room where people from different backgrounds can share skills, swap stories, and build something side by side—artists, makers, neighbors, and curious shoppers alike.
What happens in Kaatchi Market
Kaatchi is designed to shift with what the community needs. Depending on the schedule, you might find:
-
Workshops (creative, hands-on, skill-based)
-
Maker + artisan pop-ups
-
Vendor stalls and small markets
-
Gallery-style openings and community events
-
Independent themed events hosted by local creatives
Currently in the space: Local Risograph Studios
Kaatchi Market is also home to two local risograph studios we’re excited to be hosting:
-
Play Nice Press
-
Strange Powers Press
If you love risograph printing, zines, small-run posters, and colorful printmaking, Kaatchi is a great place to discover what’s being made locally—sometimes you’ll catch fresh work, new releases, or studio-led events.
