A map of Hell after Dante's Inferno, drawn as a half circle of descending rings with Jerusalem above and Lucifer at the very bottom. Under the line "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here," the circles run from the Indifferent and I. Limbo through the Lustful, the Gluttons and the Wrathful to the Heretics and the three rings of VII. Violence. Below the Abyss (Geryon) come the Deceivers, the Sowers of Discord, the Falsifiers and the Giants, with the City of Dis and the Styx marking the line between Upper Hell and Nether Hell.
It is darkly funny and genuinely useful for anyone reading the Divine Comedy, and it makes a good conversation piece next to Heaven and Purgatory. Archie Archambault started drawing maps to get un-lost, beginning with Portland; this is one place you would want directions.
