Pepper the cat has found a box, and that settles it. He is folded down into it with his eyes closed, filling the space corner to corner the way cats do once they have decided something belongs to them. The crayon work leaves a soft, waxy grain across his fur and the warm white paper underneath, giving the whole scene the texture of a drawing made quickly and fondly. Created by Rebekah Evans in North Carolina, this is a portrait of her own cat in his preferred piece of furniture.
